Heat-pump homeowner guide

What makes Quilt
worth a closer look?

Start with how a heat pump works, then compare the features and the installation your home actually needs. Quilt is one option in Freedom’s broader HVAC range.

Heating and cooling

A heat pump moves heat.

In heating mode, an air-source heat pump moves heat from outdoors into the home. In cooling mode, it moves indoor heat outside. The amount of heat it can deliver changes with outdoor conditions.

A ductless system distributes that comfort through indoor units instead of a central duct network. Room layout and airflow still matter, especially with closed doors.

A ducted heat pump can use suitable existing ducts and may be a better fit when you want one central system. Modern ducted equipment can also modulate, and some installations use zoning. Compare the actual equipment rather than treating every ducted system as the same.

Choose for the building

Where another system may fit better.

If suitable ducts already serve the rooms, a central replacement may deserve a close look. If the project needs a different indoor-unit format or a different capacity range, compare those options directly.

For a problem room or renovation without suitable ducts, a ductless system may be useful. Quilt adds a particular finish and controls experience. Installation quality, load matching and ongoing support matter whichever equipment you choose.
